Foldable goggles

Fingers peeling a flat orange logo patch off navy swim goggles, leaving white glue residue

Problem

One day the owner of a company came to us. The goods were already made and already in Korea.

It was a foldable goggle. On the front there is a part with a logo. The logo is made of silicone, and it sits in a mold-cut groove in the PE material at the front center. People used the goggles for a while, then folded them. When they folded them, the logo on the front popped right out.

How I found out

This problem started with another agency, and then the owner asked us for help.

When I looked into it, the cause was clear. A spot like this needs frequent visits to the factory during production and several checks. Nobody had done that.

What we did

Normally we do not fight this hard. But I had known this owner for a long time, so I walked straight into the factory.

I want to be honest about how hard this is. Once goods have gone to Korea, a factory can simply ignore you, and there is not much you can do. Realistically, this should not happen.

But we kept at it for two weeks. We argued, we pushed, we calmed them down, and we begged. In the end, I think the factory simply got tired, and they agreed to remake it for free.

Result

The whole order was returned. Every cost of that return was paid by the factory.

The whole order was remade, and of course the factory paid for that too.

So now

I visit the factory often while your order is in production, and I check the risky spots more than once. This one was avoidable.

This is one case, not a promise for every order.
